Weekend Wishlist #3

1. Tee 2. Skirt 3. Cardigan 4. Boots 5. Lipstick

The last few weeks have been super busy, and super exhausting. With exams all go go go I've been getting less and less sleep and the anxiety has been creeping up on me.. but, I've only got one to go, and a couple of weeks later I'll be popping up off to Edinburgh to house and cat sit for my lovely auntie! It'll be so so good to get away for a while, to get some time to myself and finally start to relax! So, for this week's wishlist I thought it'd be fun to get together a few items I'd love to be able to take with me and wear the hell out of!

1. Acid wash/burned out tees are definitely in right now, and so so me. I can imagine myself wearing this River Island tee with all sorts... jeans, skirts, shorts.. the list is endless! I love tshirts, super comfy, yet they can be super stylish! I thought this would look cute with the next item, to toughen it up slightly. I'm all about mixing and matching.

2. How gorgeous is this skirt from New Look? I'm a big fan of skater skirts as they skim over my hips and nip me in at my waist, and they are so versatile. I'm not usually a pinky person, especially this shade, but it's just too pretty! Like I said before, I can see myself teaming this up with tees like this one to toughen up the look and make it a little less girly. It'd be perfect for summer.

3. I've always had a thing for cardigans, and constantly find myself wearing one to cover up bits of my body I'm not so keen on (helloooo wobbly arms and bum) and to keep cosy. I love the print and colour palette of this, and the belt just gives it that little extra!

4. I've always been a fan of chelsea boots, but have always been scared by these heeled types... being pretty tall as well as clumsy doesn't half make it hard to walk in heels, of any height! These  ones from Missguided look like they'd be pretty comfortable and easy though with the platform which I am loving. I think I'd pair these with something like the skirt, again to give it a bit of an edge.

5. Ahhhhhh, lipstick. It seems so long since I bought yet another addition to my quickly growing lip collection (in reality it's probably been about 2 weeks...) and this may definitely have to end that. Topshop's Rio Rio looks to be a gorgeous bright red, a colour I love to wear on my lips, but don't enough!

Who else is suffering with the exam blues? What's on your wishlist this weekend?

A little explanation

So you may or may not have noticed that I've been a little quiet on the blogging front as of late... One word: EXAMS. I've not been forgetting you guys, I've just been super busy trying my hardest not to procrastinate, which is super hard when all I want to do is beat the next level on a certain game *ahem* Candy Crush *ahem*.

But yeah, I'm one down.. two more to go, and I've been revising like a mad woman. Doesn't help that I've not been able to sleep, I'm constantly high on coffee at the minute. Me + exams = BAD. Very bad. I'm a worrier, and around exam time that worry turns into panic. Not good!

Anyway, enough rambling.. back to the point. I won't be blogging as often the next couple of weeks. As hard as it is, revision has to be my priority, and I'm sure you'll understand! I'll of course try and get a couple of posts in here and there but I'm afraid it'll be a little quiet on here for the next week and counting. Just thought I'd let you lovelies know!

I'll be back before you know it. Have any of you guys got exams? How are they going?

Weekend Wishlist #2

Untitled
1. Shirt 2. Jeans 3. Blazer 4. Ring 5. Shoes

As I posted earlier in the week, I started interning last week as a marketing trainee and that can only mean one thing.. New clothes! I've found myself lusting after slightly smarter, classic pieces this week to fit in with my new job but that I can also dress down and wear time and time again! I thought I'd shape it into a little outfit to give you an idea of something I might wear on a day in the office!

1. This shirt is just beautiful. I don't think I actually own a white shirt, so this is a definite must, surely!? It has the most gorgeous crochet flower detailing which makes it perfect for summer and just gives it a little edge.

2. Everyone and their dog has been talking about the Topshop Joni Jeans, many likening them to the American Apparel Easy Jeans. I haven't tried either so am intrigued by the cheaper of the two (student coming through!) to see how they compare to my Leigh jeans. I hear these have a super high waist, which would be perfect for me and would hopefully pull all my wobbly bits in!

3. I don't actually own many blazers, but I think they are perfect for the workplace as well as just out and about if you prefer to dress it down. This bright red one from River Island would give a lovely pop of colour to a more monochrome outfit, and would smarten the outfit up slightly making it more suitable for work!

4. I just had to include this ring. I've always had a thing for hearts and have several heart shaped pieces of jewellery, and even a tattoo (I think it's something to do with my surname... 'Hart' geddit!?). It looks super dainty and would just be perfect for me.

5. Finally, shoes, and these babies... I have no words. I first spotted them instore a few weeks ago but sod's law I was skint. Now I've got my loan, I've not been able to get in town to get these home (typical!) so I'm hoping they don't sell out! The coral shade is always big for summer, and I feel it can be worn with almost anything. And the heel? Perfect. I'm not usually a big heel kinda gal, I'm fairly tall anyway and being slightly clumsy we don't usually mix too well, but these look easy enough to walk in and are just the right height! I NEED these in my life pronto!

What's on your wishlist at the moment? Do you like or have you got any of my picks?

Interning: Day 01

I've never really spoken about what I do at university or anything of the sort on here before, but I thought now would be as good a time as any. I'm a second year student studying Marketing, and worrying about finding a job at the end of it all. Will it be worth it? Will there be anything for me or will I be stuck with my part time job forever!? Worrying aside, whilst it's not compulsory for me to do a placement of any sort as part of my course, I thought that doing so will potentially increase my chances of getting hired at the end of my degree; it's something I can put on my CV and I will have experience, taking pressure off any potential employers who wouldn't have to put me through as much training depending on what it is I eventually end up doing!

After month's of searching with no luck, I finally came across a vacancy not so far from home. After applying and eventually being interviewed, I got the place! And so now I am a Marketing Trainee at the lovely Bri-Tek Technologies, an LED lighting company determined to reduce our carbon footprint by replacing ordinary bulbs with more efficient, energy saving ones. Whilst it wasn't the kind of company I originally saw myself working for (a girl who loves all things fashion and beauty in a warehouse based business!?) I'm really surprised how well I fit and how excited I was to start. Anyway, enough rambling, I'll get to it!

My little work space! (Taken on mobile, sorry for the terrible quality!)
Today was my first day, and I was super nervous to start. My incredible Grandad drove me there as I was worried about getting lost on the buses (trust me, it'd  happen) and I didn't have access to the car! After meeting up with the lovely Zack who interviewed me and who I'll be working with, as well as having a mini tour of my new workplace, I was straight to work!

The picture above shows my lovely little work space (the picture totally doesn't do it any justice), complete with a Mac and music playing to boot! Super exciting. The morning consisted of me researching the latest trends that we could relate to the company, and potential ideas for articles for our blog page over on the website, which at first was a little tedious trying to find the right kind of data, but once I got going there was no stopping me, I was completely into it.

After being to treated to lunch (ohhhh the perks of being the new girl!) it was back to work, this time I got to actually write an article that would be featured on the page, something I didn't anticipate so early on! With a little read through from Zack and being taught how to put it online (very complicated, damn you html) my article was actually posted on the website! Call me a loser, but I was super excited about this. If you're interested, you can read it here! Mine is the top one :)

I think I've rambled on enough, but I enjoyed today so much that I thought I would share it with you lovelies! I'm back in for day #2 on Friday!

Have any of you ever interned? What was your experience like? Would you like to hear more about my internship and experience? Don't worry, I won't be documenting everything, only the interesting bits!

Birchbox: April 2013

Another month, another beauty box; this time it's Birchbox! Despite never posting about them before, I've been a subscriber to Birchbox, formerly Joliebox for well over a year now. Shocking, I know. So, whilst I'm trying to get my blog up and running, good and proper, I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on this month's products. Apologies in advance for the slightly dodgy lighting, the sun just couldn't make it's mind up whether to stay in or out!

This month's box is all about embracing a brighter outlook, ready for when Spring finally decides to show itself! The magazine cover showcased a gorgeous  pink blossom-type flower, perfectly matching the 'in bloom' theme of the box (sorry, I couldn't find mine hence no picture of it #badblogger). Onto the products:

This is enriched with plenty of antioxidants and has even been dubbed as a hero serum for retaining a youthful appearance. I'm not too sure why this is in my box, being twenty I feel a wee bit young to begin using this type of product yet, and with the use of beauty profiles I would've thought the product would have been better tailored to suit it. However, I am intrigued and may give this a go in order to keep my youthful glow... That or I'll pass it on to Momma Hart ;)

Can I just say, how beautiful is this packaging?! There's something quite oriental and retro about it, I love it. The soap itself has quite a strong scent, not something I'd pick for myself but it is quite lovely. I'm not sure this will get used as we prefer liquid soap in our house, these types always tend to make a mess.. but I may well pop it into my drawers to make them smell nice!

Another product not too dissimilar from the Clinique Chubby Sticks, but in a slimmer, less easy to use form - this one needs to be sharpen when it goes blunt rather than be wound up. Nevertheless, it's something I'll definitely use. I love a good lip product. I got the shade '14. Perfect Kiss', which is a lovely deep rosey pink shade. It has a lovely smell and quite a shimmery finish, something I don't usually go for, but it's definitely wearable!

With celebrity fans such as the one and only Victoria Beckham and Adele, this definitely looks promising. Skin Food is said to be a nourishing and hydrating treatment for the whole body, and as someone who suffers with severe dryness from time to time I think this sample will be gone in no time!

Natio has always been a brand I've been interested in trying out, mostly due to its pure and natural products. This cleanser is no different; it's completely soap free and has a neutral PH to prevent stripping essential moisture from the skin. Again, I tend to suffer from dry patches on my face, mostly around my nose and cheeks, and a lot of cleansers seem to make this worse so I'm looking forward to testing this out!

Birchbox | Paname Paris Mirror
As this month's little extra, Birchbox have added this wee little mirror. The design is super cute and it's perfect for carrying around for any touchups, the only downside being that as it's not compact it will more than likely get scratched from ending up at the bottom of my bag, so I'll have to take care of it!

Overall I'm pretty pleased with this months box, I wouldn't say I'm overwhelmed, but there's a nice variety of products, the majority of which will be put to good use.

What do you think of this months Birchbox? Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes? If you'd like to see any of this month's products reviewed let me know!

Weekend Wishlist #1 feat. Chi Chi

If you're part of the e-tail PR blogging community then you may well already know about their monthly exlusive blogger competitions. This month they have teamed up with the incredible Chi Chi to give one lucky winner £200 to spend on their gorgeous dresses. All you have to do is browse their lovely website and pick your favourites, then putting them into a wishlist style post! For more information on this competition see here.Chi Chi Clothing
L-R: 1. Jakinda 2. Dalila 3. Alejandra 4. Pabla

1. The Jakinda dress is a gorgeous slightly different version of the LBD; black lace with a mint green underlay peeking through. Subtle but sexy, this would be perfect for any kind of occasion, or, if styled correctly even work!

2. I really love the peplum trend, it's a classic and figure flattering shape, and the Dalila dress gives it a more modern twist with its diamante embroidered bodice. The nude shade makes it perfect for summer, but be careful you pale gals like me.. It may be best to give yourself a bit more colour before wearing or else you might look naked! *giggles*

3. Another LBD, this time a cute and flirty style. The cross bust and floaty skirt give it a somewhat retro feel, yet the bow detailing on the shoulders bring it right back up to date!

4. As much as I love all of these dresses, I think this might just have to be my favourite. Words just can't describe how I feel about this dress... Skater style, lace top, cut out back? Perfection! It all seems very Holly Willoughby-esque, and who wouldn't want to be like her?!

What's on your wishlist this weekend? Will you be entering the competition?
